its really late

i cant sleep, yet im very tired.

i decided today that i was going to vote LIB as they have the most likely chance of snaggin that needed 5%. it’s also been big news that even though ralph nadar is under the IND platform, he’s pullin a key 1% in some swing states (read: florida) where it’ll have a dramatic difference on the REP/DEM outcome. this is good, as he should do everything he can to screw up the results for either party. this nation needs more than 2 political parties.

this was an interesting read, as i know several people who should’ve read the sarcasm in that.

it seems gentoo will be getting a facelift. this is nice, as it’s LONG overdue.

building a gentoo system without a net connection has proved to be a MAJOR pain in the ass, but everything seems to be rolling along on that. friday is too close.

i’ve got 4 dvd’s in the works right now. by the end of the week i’ll hopefully be able to add them to the list (most notably Fahrenheit 9/11).

lastly, i’ve been reading “Smile, You’re Traveling” by Henry Rollins lately, and its a fairly good read. sometimes it may seem like he’s trying too hard to be intellectual and it really shows. it’s like watching a VJ on MTV try to explain neurology. its still a good book thus far. its interesting to read about this guy’s travelling; he seems to be out of LA 3/4 of the year.

  1. While I think it is a great thing that you are not voting for Bush, I disagree with you on this statement:

this is good, as he should do everything he can to screw up the results for either party. The unfortunate part is, it will not be people who would have voted for Bush that vote for that 3rd party nominee. It is people like you who find Bush morally reprehensible and don’t want to see him back in office who will cast their vote one of the non-major, errr popular parties.

So if this trend does continue to occur, it will take away the needed votes from Kerry in key states, such as Florida and Ohio. So with Bush’s supporters staying solid, and even encouraging non-Bush supporters to vote third party because it will reduce the number of votes for his main competitor, Kerry.

I do think it is necessary to get more representation from different parties in key positions in Washington there are more pressing issues on hand in this election. Furthermore simply voting to “mess things up” isn’t a great idea, especially while things are soooo messed up already. Job loss, bad economy, war under false reasons, lying to a nation, rising medical costs, fewer people with coverage, and of course record amount of debt.

As for a plan for the third parties, I think they need to try and get in on local elections, mayor, governor, even seats in congress or the senate before trying to win the presidency. Support the local 3rd party officials, let them gain momentum and clout, then rise in the ranks.

So until then, really help keep Bush out of office and do cast a vote for Kerry.

  2. the problem i have with that is i cannot vote for kerry. i think he is just as bad as bush. i can’t vote for either party because i think they’re both idiots.

my vote isn’t necessarily just to screw things up, but more to just stir the pot. this whole myth of “taking away votes” is bullshit to begin with cause if i didnt vote third party, i wouldn’t vote at all. so technically, kerry loses no vote.

i find it a sign of america’s mediocracy and ignorace that we are unable, unwilling and flat out incapable of voting on more than just 2 parties. i realize the issues can be dense, but all it takes is maybe a few hours of reading to see where each party stands on issues you find important. i find the LIBs the most radical, thus swaying me to want to vote for them. america is one gigantic pile of medicracy and i think it’ll take some serious change to change that.

now about the local officials. you are 100% correct. the next available office is house/senate. i believe there are 3 3rd party house reps, so at least they run. i’m going to vote for senators and reps next time around.

bush is not the savior of the free world like he thinks he is. if this country really believes kerry is the solution, then this place really has sunk to a new low. this election is a “lesser evil” problem. rather than voting for the lesser evil, how about not voting for either evil at all.
