backup

ok so i got past the baselayout issue. apparently the new baselayout was a switch to the new udev system. i think the ebuild wasnt properly executing the MAKEDEV script that is provided with the package. my current problem is eterm. i cant seem to connect to the enlightenment cvs server so i can download libAST and continue updating my system.

arggggg! this is what happens when you dont update your system in like a month.

couple of side notes: canada’s officially a bilingual country, all of it. and it is feasible for a third party to do notably well. in fact, the REP was a third party initially. also check out 1968, a third party candidate won 46 EV. that’s we huge chunk. it just takes a new generation to get tired of the same mediocre crap.

2 more things and im done.

i bought rachet and clank: up your arsenal instead of killzone. i couldnt find anything really negative being said about the game, and i went to my trusted source, EGM, and they raved about it (note: i’ve been an EGM subscriber for well over a decade). also picked up the network device to go along with the game, since it supports online play. played the game for like 4 hours straight last night. its a VERY VERY impressive game, to say the least. i would highly recommend this game.

lastly, i watched Adaptation. its a movie by charlie kauffman about charlie kauffman writing a screen play that ends up being a movie about charlie kauffman writing a screen play about….. ahh you get the idea. its VERY recursive in nature. its another one of those movies that requires alot of patience but in the end, i was mostly pleased with the movie. i feel there were some parts that were…. kinda cheesy, but all in all it was a decent flick. rack another one up there for mr. kauffman and his total wierdness.

i should update my dvd listing, theres a handful of dvds that aren’t included on the list yet.

missed

forgot to note a couple things.

im prolly gonna get Killzone tomorrow as im really looking for a new FPS that i can play online and not have to worry about spending 2grand to upgrade all my hardware. kudos Guerilla!

secondly, forgot to mention the ballot measures. there are several of note:

Alaska Measure 2:
Legalizing Marijuana

California Proposition 71:
Stem Cell Research Funding

Colorado Amendment 36:
Allocating Electoral Votes

Oregon Measure 33:
Medical Marijuana

ok so if you’re gay, it looks like there are several states that will be outlawing your marrige. it also looks like 3 more states will be legalizing weed for “medicinal purposes”. who knows, maybe it’ll reduce the demand if its not considered “bad” anymore. i dont understand the reasoning for this, but i do support the idea of repealing laws. have at it OR, MT, and AK!!! im also very much in favor of CO’s electoral vote amendment. it doesnt look like it’ll pass, but i think it’s a much fairer way of electing our executive chief.

i steal forks

ok, 2 part blog. first, the light hearted part, then the more serious stuff.

i borrowed curb your enthusiasm season 2 from ford on sunday, and watched all 10 epidoes that day. season 2 delivers. i laughed harder for season 2 than i did for season 1. my favorite episodes are ‘Shaq’ and ‘The Doll’. the title of this blog entry is from the season finale ‘The Massage’. basically, larry is caught taking a fork out to his limo driver and is turned over to the police. he was sentanced to what’s referred to as ‘scarlet letter punishment’. if you haven’t seen this show, i HIGHLY recommend it.

ok, more serious stuff. watchin the live election results is depressing. none of the major networks can agree on a vote, but they all do seem to agree on one thing: 4 more years of the ‘Tard from Texas’. i cant believe how stupid and hypocritical the american public is. people have spent the last 4 years bashing Baby Bush, yet they’re re-electing him. the man is a disgrace to all texans and im appauled (sp) that people think he has not only done anything decent for this country, but will continue to do better for another 4 years! record level debt is not something to want more of. (i dont even want to go into the n. korea thing).

im not dissappointed that i voted LIB, and i will probably vote 3rd party again in 2006. wanna know what party you REALLY should be voting for? take this poll and see where you lie (as it turns out i am STRONGLY lib). i also have come to loathe mainstream media as i feel they are a large contributor to the duopoly problem. its hard to get people to want to cast a vote on a third party if none of the polls show any results because they dont even ask about LIB! he’s on 48 state’s ballots and i cant seem to find a decent poll that has mr. badnarik as an option!

by the way, if you feel voting for a third party or a party that does not typically win in your area is wasting your vote, you should be stripped of your voting privaledges. the only wasted vote is one that is not cast. im tired of people saying im wasting a vote, how dare you tell me i shouldnt vote for whomever i want. that is the most undemocratic thing i’ve ever heard and its that kind of mentality that will change nothing about this nation!
