A while back, eBay was taken to court over their “Buy It Now” feature. They lost that case and were ordered to pay MercExchange $25 million in damages.

Now this case is going to the Supreme Court, this time to determine whether an injunction should prevent eBay from using the technology.

I think it would be safe to say that eBay would take a serious hit if they were no longer allowed to offer Buy It Now auctions or their dutch variations.

I was surfing around on the net, and I found that Google listed “zero-blog” no where near the top of their search index. In fact, there is a site blog already titled “0blog” which is strikingly similar to “zero-blog.” Thankfully, it’s updated about once a week on average. We obviously update more frequently than that site.

Holiday Workout

Crystal and I made the mistake of attempting to go to the gym the day after Thanksgiving weekend.

Apparently, everybody and his brother decides to go to the gym the week after Thanksgiving and New Year’s. Its as if they feel that an entire year of poor eating and exercise can be made up the week after the holidays in which they eat like a pig. This makes sense I guess; people must come out of stuffing their faces feeling guilty for eating so much that they can soothe their conscience by barely working out at the gym for 5 days out of the year. Why don’t people just bust their hump all year and then take a break for that week or so (or attend the gym in the wee hours of the night)?

It’s extremely annoying to have to wait in line for a machine, unable to wait for another machine as they all suffer the problem. Every trainer was their working with someone; must be a good week to own a gym because you can sell tons of memberships that will never get used.

Let the Nintendo Revolution hype begin!

Nintendo sent Joystiq an email concerning their presence at E3 this year. Most notably, they referred to the system as “code-named Revolution,” which implies that the system will be named otherwise. They also mentioned the length until E3, implying that TGS will not be their big debut. This means that there will be something major released at E3, most likely will blow the lid on the Revolution hype.

Then Joystiq decided to kickstart the rumor mill by postulating 5 ideas that might occur at or because of their E3 media showing.

My take on the issue: they will release 3 major components to their system. First, they will finally reveal the actual name and likeness (appearence) of the system. This has been shrouding the console since it leaked from Nintendo and fans only have some fairly vague images to work from. Second, they will announce details behind their ROM system. They will describe how gamers will aquire, play, and extend Nintendo’s entire back catalog, which is the most important selling feature if you ask me. Lastly, they will announce their online strategy. They’ve already gone on the books as embracing online gaming for the next console, but there have been little to no details as to how they will achieve this. It’s rumored to be a free service similar to Microsoft’s Live service. An honorable mention might go to how they intend to use the controller.

We’ll just have to wait and see how close I am in my predictions.

1up has their annual holiday shopping guide available online. If you have a girlfriend or wife who is clueless as to what gaming needs you have, send them this link and rest assured that you will get something good for Christmas.

I’ve been subscribing to EGM since May 93; that’s about 150 issues!! I haven’t had a subscription for the last year (didn’t stop my from byuing them anyways) and I did not have one when I first started reading in 5/93, so I’m probably missing about 10 there, but you get the idea. The point is, I’ve always trusted EGM and they’ve NEVER burned me on a game review. Initial sentiments (at E3) are one thing, but published reviews are another.

PSP Missing Games

Several months back, I purchased a PSP handheld console. Since then, I have played the holy crap out of my copy of Lumines. I am about to purchase a new game, most likely Wipeout Pure, but have found that I overpaid for the handheld.

Why’s that? Simple, there are simply too few of games out there for this wonderful piece of hardware. I have resorted to playing with homebrew, but I will post more about that later.

I will be purchasing P.Q. but in the mean time, I need to find another game to occupy my time since clearly MSG3:Snake Eater and GT4 is simply not enough on my plate. I want to be able to play in bed while my wife watches her crummy WB shows. I am thinking either Mercury or Wipeout will do the trick.

I hope they shape up, or else the PSP will be an experiment in portable movies rather than games.

More malfunctioning problems with the XBox 360 are hitting the wires. Seems the problem is now that playing games vertically is likely to scratch the crap out of your $60 game.

There are some funny comments over at Joystiq. One thing I want to point out is that all these systems that struggle to be multi-positional end up with problems. The Gamecube has yet to scratch my games and I’ve never heard of such problems.
