I saw this story last night and thought to myself, “This is great.” Personally I don’t think that showing a picture ID to board a plane is violating any constitutional privileges it is a form of intrusion to privacy. The security personnel glance at the name and your photo id to verify the names on the ticket and ID match, maybe they will casually glance at the picture too.

Yet it comes to mind that if some individual was going to perform a terrorist act on a plane, and sacrifice their life for their belief or cause then are they really going to be worried about showing an ID? Furthermore, outside of a high ranking member whose picture has been plastered all over the place, what do these people look like? Would it be that difficult to obtain a fake ID with ties to an organization like that? Finally even if their name did appear on the list of known terrorists, and they made it all the way to the gate, is the individual going to be able to pick out that certain individual based on glancing at their id and ticket?

What if “Albert Gonzalez” was on the list, are they going to stop all the Albert Gonzalez’s from boarding the plane or give them extra scrutiny?

An interesting thing happened to me at work on Wednesday when I was going back to my cube *sigh* from lunch.  I meet my friend, s1n of this blog, almost daily for lunch, and on this particular day after we had gotten up from our respective chairs we had stopped at the intersection in the hallway.  The hallways are less than six feet wide, very long, and have hanging mirrored globes at intersections to use so you don’t plow over random passers by.

In this particular instance, s1n had taken a step or two down a hallway, and I had taken a step down the one which crosses it.  We continued chatting for a brief moment, and I started to walk down the hall when I saw this woman was staring at me funny.  There are all sorts of interesting people at the compound, so seeing a look like this was not strange to me there.  As I start to pass by her she casually says “I would’ve thought you were talking to the wall if I didn’t see that hand for a second.”

I have been known to do some strange things from time to time, but I don’t typically carry on conversations with walls in the middle of the hallway.  I would like to think that the wall and I have mutually realize that our conversation would bore each other if it were to happen, so we choose not to converse with each other.  I understand, and I go out on a limb here and say the wall which makes up half of the hallway doesn’t mind either.

Going further into this, who would have been crazier though?  I only heard things, or acted like I heard things by carrying on a conversation with a wall.  The lady seemed to be seeing things, hallucinating if you will.

Some people say in the future we’ll all be crazy, but I won’t I guess its nice to know I wont be seeing things which aren’t happening, but rather just hearing things.

What was that…?

Damnit! I just had this huge post prepared and nearly complete when something happened to my browser (probably out of memory). I had not saved the post as a draft since I was working quite quickly. Before I could finish the last paragraph, I lost the whole thing.

Why is there no autosave feature? Apparently, this was rolled into 1.5.x and then rolled back out. With all of the AJAX support throughout the admin interface, this only makes sense. If a post has a title, save it every so often as a draft. That just makes sense. Perhaps I should make an official request; perhaps I should just make the modification myself (that would go against the post I was working on).

There was apparently a plugin for 1.5.x but it seems it has not been updated for 2.0. Maybe I should start making my posts in Gmail first, then email them to the secret address for WordPress consumption. ARG! Okay, I’ll try and get the post published tomorrow.

This morning at 9:50am I got a call from 305-371-7266. I picked up hearing a spanish voice mail like message. I didn’t understand the message as I’m not spanish fluent. The message played then stopped and hung up. I was thinking “WTF” – this probably tied to my Cell Phone Conspiracy Post. I called back that number only to hear a busy signal.

I decided to do a little researching on google for “305-371-7266″. These people are retarded because they didn’t even block their number. I was amazed and enlightened that google had results for that number. After I’ve read the results, I found some rather interesting information about this number.

I have recieved at least 2 calls in the last 3 days. They have left a message in spanish. Two other family members have recieved them as well.

I have recieved more calls from this number since the last post. I’ve also done some research. The calls are generated from a business in Miami,FLA. They also have 2 other numbers that I have recieved calls from. My service provider can not block these calls. So I think I am going to have to file a complaint with the FCC.

Here’s one where I found amusing:

Yeah, thats so strange i too am recieving calls from this number and i picked up one call and the person was like “hola” and then went off about how there daughter was very pretty and smart and wanted to come to America, i was then asked if i had a wife and if not, if i wanted one… Huh, wonder what that was all about?

That sounds like some illegal Mexican mail order bride service. I’ve heard that people of US Citizenship can marry these girls so they can come to America and the service will pay him $$$. The service gets commision from the girl’s family (for marrying her and enabling her to come to America) and after she comes here she’s under a possible contract to work to pay off the additional balance. Well this is all speculation from me about this topic. I wouldn’t be suprised if my speculation has a little bit of truth in it. This idea sounds like it can be made into a movie (btw I’d suggest Man on Fire).

Here is a post that shocked me when I read it:

I’ve researched this and found out these people will have your credit card number! They will offer a free gass card or gift cards to various places. When you turn them down they’ll offer you a free magazine subscription. They will repeat the last 4 digits of your credit card number and if u say i gotta go or just hang up they know its urs and its valid. If u do happen to answer one of these call ur credit card company immediatly and cancel it! they will charge you monthly about 50$ please dont answer these calls they will scam you! Tell everyone you know to block them block them in ur privacy section of ur cell phone

So now this call turns into a credit card fraud. I’ve been very careful how I use my credit card too. I don’t use it to pay from sources I don’t know. I’m also aware of the Ebay and Paypal fraud where they create a “fake” Ebay/Paypal page that looks exactly like a real one and try to collect your login information. I’m sure all of you got some sort of message like that.

i was able to deciper enough to know it’s either a Spanish angel announcing the Apocalypse or a campaign call from the office of Alberto Gonzales on behalf of Satan. i hung up before it connected to the ‘oficina central’ as my phone started clicking.

seriously though, what if it’s a call center routed between Florida and Cuba that allows The bush Administration to domestically wiretap you because you’re a US citizen speaking with international terrorists? once you answer the call and say a few words you’re in The Log of Eavesdroppable Citizenry, and not just for this call, but for all your future potentially terroristic calls.

I received a call from this # and I hook up the phone and a Spanish record machine answered me saying ” You been selected to get a free digital camera, wait in the line and someone will we right with you” so I waited and finally ( these is not the first time that I received this call) spoke with a spanish guy (telemarket) saying ” Sir, you won a trip to Disney everything payed also a digital camera, the only thing that we need is confirm some question. He asked me my name and if I have a ” BANK CARD “, I told him why you need to know that, he said because you will receive everything free and we need it for a Shipping and handle the tickets. He asked me for my phone # and I told him that this phone # is private and it is a Goverment phone line, so he said ” well you need to call to block your number” I said tell me what is the name of your company for block it and he hang me out.

This post sounds about right. Damn telemarketers. Although I didn’t hear a real voice when I received the call.

Kobe Bryant went off for 81 points last night leading the Los Angeles Lakes to the win 122-104.  What makes this slightly more amazing is that he had 26 points at the half, which is a good scoring night for 95% of the players in the league.  However the flipside of the situation is this – it’s a team game.  Still not since David Robinson of the Spurs, who scored 72, has gone off like this.

For those not in the know, the highest number of points tallied by a single player in a game was Wilt Chamberlain who scored 100.  Jordan never even broke the seventies in his hey-day, although he ended up with 69 in one.

So if Kobe keeps this up will his arm need to be iced for the rest of the season to try and keep it from falling off?  He is averaging 28 shots a game and almost 11 free-throws a game.  Does this make him the leagues MVP, or the leagues “chucker” (Seinfeld reference)?

Some of you may have noticed, the WordPress 2.0 port is complete.

The first major problem that I ran into was the permalink issue. After a few hours, I finally figured out that problem. Then I needed to get at least the original main theme Dusk working. There have been no updates to the theme, so I tried a simple copy. This left my sidebar the same as I previously set it to. Until I installed the SlashdotHeadlines plugin, it did not work correctly.

Enjoy, now I can get back to working on my new JAlbum skin. You know what they say, if you want anything done right, you have to do it yourself. Check out my progress here. Its heavily based on Chameleon and only half complete. It is XHTML 1.0 Transitional compliant and has been working well with WordPress correctly. I want to switch it to CSS based images and not JAlbum build-time stylesheets. I will make an official release post when I have something ready to publish (will also post on their repository).
